The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports is beneficial to both students as well as the society in various means. The NSS unit of CT Institute of Engineering, Management & Technology duly approved by PTU provides hands on experience to students in delivering community service to grow individually as well as in a group. It boosts student’s enthusiasm, confidence and leadership skills and makes them contribute for the welfare of human family. NSS Volunteers usually participate in extension and outreach activities such as awareness camps on hygiene, blood donation, tree plantation, medical camps, traffic rules campaign, yoga and meditation sessions etc.
The NSS unit of CT Institute of Engineering, Management & Technology celebrated “Meri Maati Mera Desh” an initiative to commemorate 75 years of India's independence, with a pledge and tree plantation at villages to reaffirm the commitment of all participants towards our nation. Meri Matti Mera Desh Abhiyan visualizes an integrated celebration of India’s soil, memorializing the nation’s journey of freedom from 09th August to 30th August 2023.
To acknowledge the hard work of traffic police officials, who perform their duties through the different seasons, the NSS volunteers of CT Institute of Engineering, Management & Technology presented raincoats to the traffic police force at various road points in Jalandhar city. The traffic police have been playing a vital role through heavy rains, creating a safe driving environment. This initiative was an extension of the commitment of NSS volunteers to road safety and a small token of gratitude for their relentless contribution and salute to the traffic police force.
The female volunteers of NSS wing of CT Institute of Engineering Management and Technology, Shahpur organized an awareness camp on women hygiene and free distribution of sanitary pads to underprivileged girls in nearby villages. Dr. Updesh Khinda delivered a lecture to increase awareness among adolescent girls of rural areas on menstrual hygiene, use of high-quality sanitary napkins and safe disposal of sanitary napkins in an environmentally friendly manner. The motive of the camp was to break the taboo stigma surrounding menstruation for women hygiene.
With the intent of corporate social responsibility, NSS wing of CT Institute of Engineering Management and Technology, Shahpur, Jalandhar organized a Blood Donation camp in campus under the supervision of Civil Hospital Jalandhar. During the camp, 70 students and faculty members donated their blood voluntarily.
As an integral part of the NSS activities, CT Institute of Engineering Management and Technology conducted various tree plantation drives in villages adopted by NSS wing. The volunteers of NSS planted saplings not only within campus but also on the roadside of Jalandhar city and nearby villages as well. The volunteers also installed Tree Guards in the Jalandhar cantonment with the motive to encourage more plantation initiatives. The institute always motivates others for the environmental preservation for the betterment of the society and nation.
NSS Wing of CT Institute of Engineering Management and Technology organized various medical camps in collaboration with several hospitals such as Drishti Eye Care Hospital, Batra Clinic and Clove Dental etc. Thousands of patients were treated by the experts in these camps and were given free medicines as well. On a timely basis, these initiatives are taken into practice by the NSS unit. Free medical camps are extremely useful for the people who earn a meager income and cannot afford expensive healthcare services offered by hospitals or clinics. Renowned physicians, doctors, dentists, physiotherapists are invited to these camps for providing excellent services to the patients.
NSS volunteers of CT Institute of Engineering Management and Technology in association with Jalandhar traffic police conducted traffic awareness campaigns in different parts of the city. To make this initiative an iconic one, NSS volunteers in association with Jalandhar traffic police honored commuters observing traffic rules regularly during an activity organized at Guru Ravidas Chowk and Mambro Chowk in Jalandhar. The NSS volunteers have initiated this unique drive to motivate more and more people to follow traffic rules and drive safely. The commuters who were found following all the traffic rules religiously, they were awarded with a certificate on the spot.
NSS volunteers of CT Institute of Engineering Management and Technology, Shahpur organized a cleanliness drive at the bus stand and nearby villages. The NSS volunteers actively organized the cleaning as well as fogging task to control the diseases such as malaria and dengue. More than 50 students took the initiative to spread awareness about sanitation and cleanliness.
This initiative was deliberated with the aim of bringing everyone together by focusing on the present need of society which is hygiene and sanitation. Through this activity, students learned the importance of teamwork, understood the menace of littering, learned ways to deal with the waste, and cleaned the area.
The NSS volunteers of CT Institute of Engineering Management and Technology celebrated the International Yoga Day at its campus with students and staff members. The NSS volunteers performed various yoga exercises and activities towards better health and wellness. The institute had specially invited various wellness coaches and meditation gurus for streamlining the International Yoga Day at the campus.
